Believe What You Want by Xehara Believe What You Want by Xehara
My religion, sexual orientation, or political beliefs may not agree with yours, but we can still be friends. It's alright, go ahead, believe in what you want.

Edit: The above is what the stamp means for me. But the summary of what the stamp means in general, is that your opinion is your opinion. You're welcome to it and I wont begrudge -you- for it, even if I dislike your opinion.

Furthermore - Respect people even when disagreeing with their opinion unless they give reason not to do so by how they treat you.

Edit 2: Moved to scraps since it was apparently misconceived.

No religion is right, and no religion is wrong.
There are no such things as bad, or good opinions.

you can't really call someone your friend if you think their sexuality, gender, skin color etc makes them less human than you or that somehow means in your small mind they deserve less rights than you or are 'less good' than you. I mean sure, you can say you're their friend all you want and put pretty words on a mask of hatred but you're not being honest, you're lying.

as my grandfather once said, you can put icing on a heap of shit but that don't make it a sweet cupcake.

I share the same feelings. I also support people rejecting any belief they want and not bashing them for it.

I've sadly noticed the vast majority of ppl who use this stamp are some of the most pushy with their opinions. :( Just the same, great stamp idea. :)

This is too true, whatever person you are, you are still a person regardless of your views... where would we be today if people had actually learnt that?

So true~
I'm Christian, Pansexual, and Genderqueer.
But I still can respect people who are different than me.
And I still deserve respect from people different than me.
If the world would just respect there wouldn't be as many problems.

Yeah, let's let people believe what they want. Like that it's okay to rape, torture and murder. That's fine. It's their belief.

There are differences between believing something and taking action upon it. Furthermore, who are you to dictate what is the correct belief or thought? Right and wrong are human constructed concepts that change over time. What you deem as "right" today could be very well considered wrong by the majority of the human population in the near or far away future.

How does religion, sexual orientation or political views at all insinuate that I, or anyone who uses this stamp is endorsing rape and violence? I'm just a little confused how something so simple has enraged you so much.

At what point did I appear enraged?

And you obviously don't know much about religion and politics if you think there aren't religions and political regimes that condone violence in a major, major way. It's very nice that you're all for peace and love and understanding between different cultures and beliefs but you might want to do a bit of background research.

The part where you mentioned rape and violence, that and this response makes you seem enraged.

It's a stamp, that supports you apparently being offended by a stamp. Sorry if it bothers you or, if you've taken this to an extreme. I don't see the point in doing research on an extreme case that could be randomly thrown out all for a stamp, but thank you for the suggestion.

I'm not offended in the slightest. But you've just confirmed that you don't have the first clue about the implications of "letting people believe what they want", which is sad. But it must be nice to live in that sort of mindset. Have fun with that.

Would you prefer a stamp that states my religious beliefs? My sexual orientation? My political view? All of which that says not believing in such things is wrong? Your aggression in the situation indicates being offended, if you're not all the better. You're welcome to your opinion and your views on the matter.

Do you feel we should all follow the same preset path then? That your religion, sexual orientation and political views are what everyone else should believe in? That isn't asked with any sarcasm, more so an attempt to understand your point of view.

I really like the colors in this stamp :D

Not necessarily. You might 'believe' that 2+2=5, just like people who believe/have the 'opinion' that the earth is 6000 years old.. It might be your 'opinion' that 2+2=5. Doesn't change the fact that 2+2=4 or that the earth is billions of years old.

 I realize that, trust me, I'm an atheist (that sounded creepy...)

Just people seem to think it gives them the right to be rude to other people just because they believe something else, whether it's true or not...

Honestly, sometimes it's hard not to be rude. I always try to be respectful, but when it feels like you're dealing with the equivalent of an adult who believes in the tooth fairy, sometimes you just get frustrated.

Awesome stamp! I sure wish people can still be friends even though their views are different. Heres a perfect example, my sister had a friend who was asking her about her religious views. My sister said she was Catholic and her friend replied saying she was Atheist. But all that girl wanted to know was that if my sister would still be her friend or hate her for her views. But my sister said it didn't matter what her beliefs were and that she won't hate her friend and they kept their friendship. =) If only everybody didn't hate each other because of things like that. No matter what, ones friendship should never be broken just because.

Good on your sister! The paths we follow are carved by our own hands and they're unlike any other's. We can dislike a belief, but we shouldn't dislike the believer because of it.
